Improvement of Roma settlements; training of municipal coordinators for Roma issues in BiH

Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) is active in improving the situation of Roma population in South-East Europe and this project is part of capacity building activities for Roma coordinators in BiH on basic human rights. The key theoretical postulates, set in international declaration on human rights, were presented through three-day training up to the level of daily practical problems which specifically reflect accomplishment of right to civic status, health and social security and housing.
Main UDP activities: preparation of training curricula and performing training on essentials of human right to housing and all aspects of the problem of improvement of Roma settlements; training comprised elaboration of the theoretical setup of the housing right through practical examples, introduction in typology of Roma settlements, regulatory and planning framework and problem solution methods in dependence of all characteristic circumstances; simulation of all the stakeholders’ attitudes in play roles treating concrete problem situations (eviction trial); developing optimal and possible scenarios.
